Hajj is one of the sacred religious rituals. Therefore, this ritual must be respected and sanctified, and all conditions that are required of a Muslim man or woman must be met, including the Ihram clothing. Therefore, in the following paragraphs, we will learn about the ihram clothing for ladies and what are the conditions for the ihram clothing for ladies.
Conditions for ihram clothing for ladies
It is permissible for a woman during Umrah to wear whatever she wants of her permissible clothing, without displaying herself with adornment, and on the condition that she does not imitate men in her ihram clothing for ladies. It has been proven on the authority of Aisha, the Mother of the Believers – may Allah be pleased with her.
That she said: (A woman in ihram may wear whatever clothing she wants, except a garment that has been touched by a cord or Saffron, she does not wear a veil, she does not wear a mask, and she can drape the garment over her face if she wishes.)
It is also permissible for a woman during Umrah to wear socks and shoes on her feet. Women must observe the conditions of Islamic dress code, and among these conditions are the following:
- The ihram clothing for ladies should cover her entire body. So it covers the private parts, and covers every adornment that it is forbidden to show in front of men who are strangers to the woman. Allah said-:
- The ihram clothing for ladies should be wide and loose; It is forbidden for a woman to wear tight clothing that shows off the beauty of her body in front of foreigners, and a woman’s clothing must be modest clothing that does not attract attention.
- Women should avoid imitating men’s clothing in their clothing.
- The ihram clothing for ladies should not reveal what is underneath, but rather her clothing should cover, as transparent clothing shows the beauty and charms of the woman and exposes her private parts, and this is forbidden by Islamic law.
- It should not contain any adornment that attracts men.
What is permissible for a woman to wear during Hajj?
A woman can wear whatever clothes she wants, and there is no special color; Rather, she can wear any color she wants, and everything that is valid to wear during prayer is valid to wear when a woman performs Umrah. The ihram clothing for ladies must cover her entire body except the face and hands, and so must her clothing for Umrah.
It is permissible for a woman to wear sewn clothing of all shapes and types when performing Umrah, covering her head and the rest of her body with it. It is permissible for a woman to enter ihram to perform Umrah while wearing socks, socks, or sandals on her feet.
What a woman is not permitted to do during Hajj
It is not permissible for a woman who has entered ihram to perform Umrah to cover her face and hands, according to scholarly consensus. It has been proven on the authority of Ibn Omar – may Allah be pleased with her – that he said.
(A man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah, what clothing do you command us to wear during the ihram? Then the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said Do not wear shirts, trousers, turbans, or robes, unless someone does not have sandals, in which case he should wear socks, and let him cut off the lower part of the ankles, and no sandals Wear anything that has been touched by saffron, or wood, and a woman in ihram should not wear the niqab or wear gloves.).
Ihram prohibitions for women
A woman in ihram for Umrah must avoid the prohibitions of ihram. In order for her Umrah to be valid and acceptable, the prohibitions of Ihram are:
- It is forbidden for a woman in ihram for Umrah to remove hair from her head or all of her body.
- It is forbidden for a woman in ihram for Umrah to trim her fingernails or toenails without a legitimate excuse, but if part of her nail breaks, there is no harm in trimming only the part that causes damage.
- It is forbidden for a woman in ihram for Umrah to wear the niqab, veil, or gloves, as mentioned previously.
- It is forbidden for a woman in ihram for Umrah to wear perfumed clothing or to perfume her body.
- It is forbidden for a woman in ihram for Umrah to marry, have intercourse, and preliminaries of intercourse, such as kissing or touching with desire.
- However, if a woman in ihram for Umrah wants to cover her face from men during Umrah, then it is permissible for her to do so, according to scholarly consensus, if she fears or thinks that temptation will fall on men when she uncovers her face.
- In that case, she must cover her face when men are present, and this is done by lowering the veil over her face.
- It has been proven on the authority of Fatima bint Al-Mundhir – may Allah be pleased with her – that she said: (We used to cover our faces while we were in ihram while we were with Asmaa bint Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq).
- Likewise, it is forbidden for a man in ihram to cover his face, and this is the doctrine of the Hanafi and Maliki schools. It was proven on the authority of Ibn Abbas – may Allah be pleased with him – that he said:
“A man was killed by his mount while he was in ihram and he died, so the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: Wash him with water They turned and shrouded him in his two clothes.
And do not cover his head or his face, for he will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection reciting the Talbiyah.)
- The hadith indicates that one of the effects of ihram is the ihram not covering the face. They also said that a woman in ihram does not cover her face, so it is more appropriate for a man not to cover his face when in ihram.
- As for the Shafi’is and Hanbalis, they went to say that covering the face for a ihram man is not one of the prohibitions of ihram, so he may cover his face if he wants to.
Conclusion
At the conclusion of the text, Islamic law came with everything that serves the interest of Muslim women, so it was prescribed for ihram clothing for ladies not to describe or reveal the details of the body, and the same also applies to ihram clothing for ladies.
