عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَ سَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالَى : يَا ابْنَ ادَمَ ، إِنَّكَ مَا دَعَوْتََنِي وَرَجَوْتَنِي ، غَفَرْتُ لَكَ عَلَى مَا كَانَ مِنْكَ وَلَا أُبالِي . يا ابْنَ ادَمَ :لَوْ بَلَغَتْ ذُنُوبُكَ عَنانَ السَّماءِ ثُم َّ اسْتَغْفَرْتَني ، غَفَرْتُ لَكَ . يَا ابْنَ ادَمَ : إِنَّكَ لَوْ أَتَيْتَنِي بِقُرَابِ الأَرْضِ خَطَايا ثُمَّ لَقِيتَني لَا تُشْرِكُ بِي شَيْأً ، لَأَتيْتُكَ بِقُرَابِها مَغْفِرَةً رواهُ الترمذي
On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Allah the Almighty said: O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.” [It was related by at-Tirmidhi (also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal). Its chain of authority is sound.]
The teacher should teach the kid that Allah will reward him for every letter he reads from the Quran and that there are many benefits to the person who memorizes its verses.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever recites a letter of the book of Allah will be credited with a good deed and a good deed is multiplied into ten. I do not say that the word: Alif Laam Meem is counted as a word letter. Rather, Alif is one letter, Laam is one letter and Meem is one letter.”

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ
“And We have certainly made the Quran easy to remember. So is there anyone who will be mindful?” [surah Al-Qamar, verse 17]

وَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكْرَهُوا۟ شَيْـًۭٔا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ ۖ وَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تُحِبُّوا۟ شَيْـًۭٔا وَهُوَ شَرٌّۭ لَّكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٢١٦
“Perhaps you dislike something which is good for you and like something which is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know.” [surah Baqarah, verse 216]

Our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said: “Verily the one who recites the Quran beautifully, smoothly, and precisely he will be in the company of noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty stumbling (or stammering) through its verses, then he will be rewarded twice.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)
