The wisdom behind the Prophet’s multiple wives
The prophet muhammad wife is a revelation and a command from Allah, indicated by many verses. By studying the biography of the Prophet – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – and how he married his wives, it becomes clear that the reason for his multiple wives is related to several rulings that can be summarized as follows:
Legislative wisdom:
The custom of adoption was one of the well-known customs among the Arabs at the advent of Islam, and the Prophet – peace be upon him – had adopted Zaid bin Haritha, and the will of Allah Almighty wanted to nullify the custom of adoption and nullify its effects.
And in order for this ruling to be clear in the minds of Muslims; The Lord Almighty ordered the Prophet to marry Zainab bint Jahsh, who was at that time the ex-wife of his adopted son. This marriage constituted a divine command and new legislation prohibiting adoption and nullifying its effect.
Social wisdom:
What happens in marriage, whether by affinity or lineage, is enough to unite hearts with a close bond, such as his marriage – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – to the mothers of the believers: Aisha and Hafsa – may Allah be pleased with them -; For the love of their parents.
