Allah gave luqman in the quran wisdom and sound mind according to the verse, “Indeed, We gave Luqman wisdom,” meaning that Allah created things for him, so he deduced things from them, so he never neglected Allah’s method, and he only ate what was permissible and avoided what was forbidden. He preserved the principles of the craftsmanship of wisdom from the hands of its maker and did not contaminate it with anything, so Allah gave it to him. He endowed him with the ability to derive judgments and the philosophy of advising people with love and affection so that they take strong, sound advice. So in the following lines we will discuss luqman in the quran

Who is Luqman?

luqman in the quran he is Luqman bin Yasour, the nephew of our master Ayyub. He was from the people of Sudan, Egypt, from the village of Nubia, an Ethiopian, with black skin, with cracked feet, and curly hair. Sayings differed about the nature of his work. Some say that he was a carpenter, tailor, or shepherd.

He lived in the same era in which our master David lived. Ibn Suleiman, who was not a prophet, but he learned wisdom from our master David and his student in the vast knowledge of creatures, their secrets, and their secrets.

So much so that Allah loved him and gave him wisdom and an abundance of knowledge, so his answer was unrivaled by an answer because he did not utter it except after thinking and with certain knowledge, so Allah chose him to be a caliph on earth to rule.

He answered him intelligently: You are my Lord. If you choose me, I will accept well-being and abandon calamity. If you force me, then you are my Lord, and obedience is yours. Then the angels rejoiced at his answer and his ruling until he became a caliph on earth. Due to his extreme wisdom and skill in adjudicating disputes, and his clear mind, he was called Balqman the Wise

luqman in the quran

The Holy Qur’an mentioned a number of characters who are role models, and Allah mentioned their stories in the Qur’an so that people may imitate them, and among these is luqman in the quran – peace be upon him -. The scholars have differed regarding the name Luqman based on several sayings, which are as follows:

Luqman, bin Ba’ora, Ibn Nahor, son of Tarakh, Azar Abu Ibrahim. Luqman bin Anqa, bin Marwan, was a Nubian from the people of Aila. It was said: He is Ayoub’s sister’s son, and it was said: His cousin. Luqman was famous for his wisdom.

The scholars differed regarding the prophecy of luqman in the quran. Some scholars believed that he was a prophet, others believed that he was just a righteous man and not a prophet, and some scholars believed that he was given a choice between prophecy and wisdom, so he chose wisdom.

Luqman’s commandments in the Qur’an

Since one of luqman in the quran most prominent qualities was wisdom, the Qur’an mentioned to us a number of his venerable commandments that he recommended to his son, and his commandments varied between doctrinal, moral, social, and advocacy matters, and among these commandments are the following:

Prohibiting polytheism

This commandment was the first of luqman in the quran commandments to his son because of its importance, as polytheism is the greatest of sins, and it is one of the reasons for deeds not being accepted by Allah Almighty.

Encouragement to honor parents

In many verses, Allah Almighty has linked worshiping Him with honoring parents due to the importance of this great worship, and to demonstrate the status of parents before Allah Almighty, even if they are unbelievers. The mother has been singled out for extra care. Because of the hardships she endures during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. Allah said-:

Ensuring good company

is one of the things that most helps a person to obey him. Allah Almighty said:

Encouragement to constantly monitor

Allah Almighty in secret and in public, because Allah knows the deceitfulness of the eyes and what the breasts hide. Allah Almighty said:

Urging the most important acts of worship

The greatest of which is in the sight of Allah Almighty, when He urged His Son to pray. Because it is the servant’s connection with his Lord, and it encourages enjoining good and forbidding evil, because they are a great rule of reform in societies, and a reason for their stability and happiness.

He urged patience after urging people to enjoin good and forbid evil, to show that the one who enjoins good and forbids evil must be exposed to harm, so he must be patient. Allah Almighty said:

Encouraging humility towards people, and forbidding arrogance

and arrogance because arrogance is a reason for Allah’s lack of love for the servant, Allah Almighty said:

Conclusion

In conclusion, in addition to the character of luqman in the quran. A Muslim must take care of these great commandments. And to apply it on the ground, for Allah Almighty did not mention the story of Luqman merely for entertainment or to enjoy listening to stories, but rather he mentioned it to take a lesson, a sermon, and lessons from such great people.
